Sunday March 6th – Peas + Pods Returns!

Peas + Pods Family Market returns to Dublin Food Co-op on Sunday the 6th March from 11am to 5pm.

After a disappointing end to 2010, with the cancellation of our Christmas Market, we have been busy putting together a great day for our first market of 2011, with a real variety of stalls and events to entertain and delight!

So, alongside the 30+ stalls, delicious food, drawing wall and play areas, March’s Market treats include;

Niamh Sharkey – We are thrilled to have Niamh at a Peas + Pods stall!
She will be doodling Doodles to order and selling some paintings of her wonderful critters.

Baby Wearing Ireland
will be holding a sling meet in the morning.
Between 11.30 and 1pm, Peas + Pods will play host to a variety of sling and wrap encased Mums, Dads, babies and toddlers! Baby Wearing Ireland is a non-profit organisation which helps promote and educate others about the benefits of baby wearing. Sling meets are held regularly around the country, where families can try out different slings and meet other baby-wearing families.

A Glór Gospel Choir will be singing live from 1pm until 3pm.
This all-female  gospel and inspirational choir are finalists in RTÉ’s An Cor series. With all proceeds raised from their performance at Peas + Pods being donated to Barnardos, we would love you all to come along with family and friends, enjoy the singing, and support Barnardos too.

The Elbow Room will run  several Mini Jam sessions during the day, at 12pm, 3pm and again at 4pm. This class for toddlers and parents uses movement, dance, music and song to help develop children’s balance, co-ordination and understanding of rhythm and beat in a really fun way.
Each of these market special sessions will run for around 20-30 minutes. As space is tight, these Mini Jam mini-classes will be limited numbers wise, and spaces will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis. Get there early enough to register for your class!

There will be so many stalls to browse on 6th March, why not check out Our Stallholders page for previews of who will be there.

Come early to avoid missing out on something you’d really love to have, or come late and see if you can bag a bargain as we all pack up.

See you in two weeks!

Featured Event – Face Painter – Elder Trindade

‘Discovered’ by one of the Peas + Pods team in St Stephens Green playground, Elder Trindade is a kid’s actor and perfomer by profession and make up artist by passion. A fantastic talent, we are delighted to have him at our markets.

Elder is providing the prize for our Facebook Competition and the great news is you don’t have to have kids to win! Grown-ups can have facepainting too…

…even pregnant bellies can be adorned with his beautiful art!

So, come along on Sunday, and join the kids in getting some Hallowe’en style artwork on your own self too!

More from Elder here;
Ever since my early performances for Brazilian theartre “Caixa Cenica”, I have been interested in visual presentation and decoration of human faces that combines our dreams and fascination of colorful shapes with real design.
Face painting catches attention of every child’s eye to make it extraordinary experiance and fun. I unify in my face painting all the special children’s dreams, wishes and desires with artistic expression and passion.
I look forward to painting your personal, facial decoration and make your kid happy.

Crafty Little Things

Coming to Peas and Pods this Sunday afternoon is a double bill of creative activity!
Crafty Little Things will guide children through the creation of their very own Peg Dolls. This will be followed by an interactive storytime, where the children will help to chase away the Mean Old Wolf in the classic tale of “Little Red Riding Hood”.
This 30 minute long workshop will run twice, first session begins at 2.30pm and the second at 3.30pm. Entrance fee is €4 per child. Numbers will be limited, so buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment!

Starting at 11.30am, this 45 min show is suitable for all ages.
Tickets can be purchased at the door, €9 for parent and child, €12.50 for families.

Written and directed by Conor Lambert of Custard Pie Puppet Company and performed by Anne Fitzpatrick, The Witch in the Wood takes us into the world of ‘Cackaleen’ a something-teen dysfunctional witch who is more silly than scary.
